Plea for offline CERs

Why isn’t there a way for me, as a user of an offline workstation, to easily transport the files generated by a Customer Error Report to a computer that is online and send it from there? Writing a little app installable on the online PC to send it to the right address (which isn’t a mail address apparently) can’t be all that difficult.
I mean: officially an internet connection still isn’t a system requirement,
while Chris Chia is quite adamant in his bug thread over at the MalBase:

As it's still the only web community (not counting the Mailing List) the New Team
(in this case Chris Chia) visits, it still needs to be checked once in a while.

(si-community Administrator mini-rant: Which proves BTW Softimage would rather have a bug thread on a malware infested site
than set a foot in our little community, even after I suggested to/invited Chris Chia in a quite friendly manner several times per PM to at least register here)

I can understand though, it's better to have one thread, than scattered ones over multiple forums.

Since xsibase still gives me malware warnings when opening, I don't go there anymore.
Shame though if it ends that way. Lots of valuable info on that site.

Safe to assume most people faced with this sort of massage feel the same:

"Google has found malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. Perhaps try again tomorrow or go somewhere else."

Yeah, google will often spit out a relevant conversation at xsibase to a problem i'm having, but i dare not enter (why dont they offer cached pages for malware-infested sites, anyway?). Hope they can salvage something out of it.

@bottleofram – In this specific case I don’t really mind the thread derailment.
As the Softimage developers collectively shun the si-community, posting a feature request here is in itself an exercise in futility.


For reading the *Base I use the so-called Browser in the Box”, a virtual machine running Firefox as my second browser.

A virtual machine is provided with a reduced operating system and a web browser encapsulated therein. Malware can’t thus penetrate the host operating system and a potential damage in the separated virtual machine will vanish with each start of the browser by returning to a certified starting point.

And specifically about the *Base itself:

For a long time I have held the position that we shouldn’t give up on the *Base. I have, however, started to doubt this lately, as they do not give any impression whatsoever that they’re working on the problem and the user base is completely left in the dark as to what will happen to the *Base.
