You cannot post to the mailing list using the Google Group.
The Google Group is technically merely an archive.
To post in the Mailing List you must subscribe to the Mailing List itself.
I believe, if they haven't changed this recently, you have to send
a mail to "softimage-request@listproc.autodesk.com" using "subscribe" as the subject title
after which the correspondence goes via email also...
