Hello all.
I want to make extrude inside ICE. The length must change in time. But i haven't succeed in it. Custom parameter doesn't chanhe in time in modeling stack. I try to change it in simulation stack, and it actually changes, but has no effect on modeling stack!
Is there any solution?
Thank You.

Re: Modeling Stack change custom parameter.
You can use Get Current Frame or Get Current Time in the Modeling region, or simply animate the value of a Scalar node.

The problem is that value changes only once. I don't need to know the current frame, I just need the value toi change in time any way, to have extrude every frame.

I'm not quite sure I follow you, but there is another option you can try. You can simulate and set a custom attribute value on another object like an empty point cloud. Then in a tree in the Modeling region of your mesh, you can get that value to use in your calculations.

It works only once.

Re: Modeling Stack change custom parameter.
If there is a modelling and simulation region, the modelling region gets evaluated on the first frame only and then the simulation region takes over from the 2nd frame until the end of the animation. So, when designing an effect you always have to keep that in mind.
Not in front of computer right now, but this setup should work:
In your modelling region ICE tree:
1. Create custom parameter with initial value and store it using Set Data.
In your Simulation region ICE tree:
1. Read custom parameter using Get Data.
2. Apply extrude op using custom parameter.
3. Increment custom parameter and store it using Set Data.
When your doing an animation in ICE, your modelling region ICE tree should only be doing setup tasks, because its only going to be evaluated on the 1st frame only. So any prep. work you need to do before animation begins, you put that in the modelling region.

This step won't work in the Simulation region. You can modify the topology only in the Modeling region.TwinSnakes007 wrote: In your Simulation region ICE tree:

Victor, at this point I'm not sure what the problem is. I think we need more info.

Re: Modeling Stack change custom parameter.
Here ya go...put this in the modelling region (no simulation region needed).
You can add different types of calculations to get the effect you're looking for.
