My LFS portfolio site

Post by Zafar Iqbal » 04 Oct 2011, 19:09

I've been doing Live For Speed (a racing simulator) renders for some years and have now collected them all in an online portfolio. There are few others too, but 99% are LFS related. I did some on my own and some on request since the game allows users to create custom car livery, and many people and teams like such renders for various reasons - typically to show the livery in a slight better way than by in-game screenshots.

I also do them to keep learning about materials, lighting and especially compositions etc.

I'd like to share these with you. The latest half are XSI/mental ray while the older ones are modo renders. 470 renders in total so far :D

I hope you will like my work - C&C are more than welcome: http://www.r4ptor.dk

Nice! Do you have any screenshots of how they look in-game? ;)

Yeah, sure. Well, had to google them first :)

BF1 - Screenie 01 - Screenie 02
FXR - Screenie
RAC - Screenie 01 - Screenie 02
FZR - Screenie 01 - Screenie 02

Also did this as a YouTube HD quality test:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7TA0HiNY1w - shows in-game with movement but with some minor post-processing though.

What I was thinking (but this is not a criticism):
wouldn't it be an idea to texture these cars with a little more grime and dirt,
so they appear a little more realistically in-game?
(It all looks slightly too clean IMHO)
;)

True. The majority of the livery textures, or skins as we call them, are created clean. People seem to prefer this and it's possibly also affected by the fact that the game doesn't support any spec or reflection maps, meaning the dirt with reflect just as much as the cleaner part.

I once planned to create dirt templates for users to slap o top of their skins. Never got around to it though.

How about this one :)
