Thea Render v.1.1

Post by Hirazi Blue » 28 Sep 2011, 09:39

Version 1.1 of Thea Render has been released
The new edition has two very important additions. The first is a performance improvement, up to x2, which makes Thea faster than ever (tech announcement here) while the second is the very important integration with Motiva Colimo (tech announcement here) that makes possible to generate "infinite" variations from a single render!
And they offer a nice price on Motiva Colima, if you already own Thea
or buy it together with a new license for Thea (until Monday 10 October)

Full press release
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Is there anyone here that is using Thea that can say something about how it integrates with SI? For instance, does the Thea interactive renderer work within the SI render region? Can you do all your material setup and lighting from within SI or do you first have to export everything over to the Thea software?

Right now plugin is in early beta stage. Main purpose is to export to Thea studio, so no RR support.
Best bet is to try it, download demo versions from their sitehttp://www.thearender.com/.

Features/Changes, for latest version:

The Thea Render options are now synced with revision 571 of Thea Studio, with the exception of the Location drop down in the physical sky section.
Support for phong and lambert mental ray materials/shaders for now.
Point lights and Spot lights supported. Area Lights are a work in progress.
Multiple camera types.
Only polymesh geometry are supported currently. Geometry Approximation is now supported, please set the render level for the appropriate result in Thea Studio
One UV projection only
Starting of Thea Render after export
Licensing has been added and is required to export scenes
Binary Meshes are now supported. Multiple material or cluster material support is still in progress
Editing of Thea materials using Thea in matlab mode has been added
Animation support for models, lights, and cameras. New 'Export Animation' option on the 'Animation' Tab in the 'Render Options' property
Added 'Units' drop down to 'Output' tab in the 'Render Options' property, added support for centimeters
Demo version restriction changed to stop at 50 polygon meshes
Various bug fixes

hey guys

i am working on the thea export plugin, i do this on my free time, so its progress is slow. please download the latest version from the forum NOT the main site's download section, that one hasn't been updated yet.

please log any bugs or issues you find on the forum. a big on going issue is related to multiple materials/cluster based materials and binary mesh exporting. if you are using cluster based materials its best you disable binary mesh export for the time being.

Give Thea a try. I love it

It's powerfull, intuitive and a very resonable price for what it can do.

The trial versions of Thea studio and the plugin have all the featutres with just a few limitations. You have nothing to lose.

The development team are genuinely willing to help and develop Thea according to what the user base wants. The community are open, friendly and very helpfull. A far cry from some CG forums out there (Si-Community is of course an exception ;) ).

DO IT NOW :-bd
