Hello guys, this is plaguing me since a lot of time and was wondering if there are some alternatives plugins/ICE.
Is there a way to use the soft selection (proportional modeling) walking on the current mesh?
Yet I didnt find a way, for example when you use "move proportional" on a mesh lets say a "T" shape mesh, when you are near to the horizontal part of the "T" shape, it selects all the points before completing the vertical shape, basicall it acts based on a radious and not on actual polygons/vertex/edges.
I hope i was clear enough, got few time and couldnt post a screenshot, but i will if its needed
thanks, Max

Re: Soft Selection pain
I think this is what you are looking for:
Right-click on the 'Prop' button
In the ppg that pops up, check 'Consider Neighbourhood'
With this on, it will only affect components that are adjacent (directly connected)
<<below is pasted from the help docs>>>
Consider Neighborhood
Provides further control over which components are affected by considering the adjacency of affected components, in addition to their distance from the components that are being directly manipulated:
If it is off, all components within the Distance Limit are affected.
If it is on, a component within the Distance Limit is not affected if it is not adjacent to components that are being directly manipulated, nor adjacent to other affected components.
This option is particularly useful when working on objects that curve back on themselves.
