Autodesk Composite Hotfix #4

Post by Maximus » 01 Aug 2011, 17:29

I've stumbled upon this on the area and thought some one might benefit too

AD released maya hotfix 4, wich includes a hotfix 4 for composite too, you can just grab the Composite Hotfix#4 (notice that requires uninstalling composite because the hotfix4 is a full installation).

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps ... ID=9242259

Beside the weirdness of why this didnt pop out as new on Softimage and Max users too (wich i personally stopped care how AD promote their own products cuz is beyond my comprehension) you might wanna know that the team that is developing Composite is the Maya team, so for future reference when you need to look and seek some updates you might want to check Maya service packs and updates.

OT; here is another interesting link:

wich brings me to one question....Why AD didnt even think to make a decent interop with their own Compositing software (aka toxic) and they promote Adobe After effects... ok maybe userbase, maybe no one uses toxic but this is kinda hilarious lol.

Looking doubtful to Siggraph :-?

Thanks Maximus for the heads-up... :-bd
I'd agree it's "weird", there was no Softimage announcement about this,
but as you already point out, it shouldn't really surprise us anymore...

There also wasn't a Max announcement either, so Softimage isn't the only one forgotten here.

As regards workflow and interop with Composite, both Maya and Max already have a pretty good workflow into Composite. Both (though not sure about Max) can export pre-comps into Composite and FBX cameras will also work as well.
And Composite itself is actually a very good piece of software.

Yeah Bellsey, i was saying neither Max users got notify of this.
I've just posted this because i actually love Composite even if it seems no one uses it, it is a great software and has insane good tools (when it doesnt crash) so there is a bit of frustration in lack of tutorials/send back and forth and integration with softimage, considering the most loved FXTree got abandoned (hopefully in a near future we'll see ICE drive FXTree).

I personally use Composite and FXTree a lot, thats why i've find out the hotfix :p
Mine wasnt a thread against Softimage for once :D

Softimage is relatively new to the party in respects to Composite workflow, but you can still import footage and rendered frames into it.
Better workflow could probably be sorted out, but personally there's other things that I think would be more important and beneficial to users at the moment.
