Softimage Tutorial Vimeo Group

Sorry for the cross post, just getting the word out

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know I started a new vimeo group that will focus on Softimage Tutorials. Other groups are lingering around but haven't really taken off or been moderated too well. I'm going to keep an eye on it a bit better and hopefully it'll become a main hub for Softimage video tutorials like the Softimage ICE group has for ICE specific videos.

It would be good to have a tutorial request group too. Being presented with a problem can spark an idea for a tutorial that you might not have thought up yourself.
Personally, I'd like to see some tutorials on Modelling in ICE and specifically, making procedural plants, or giving me enough to go on so I could start doing that myself.
Another thing I really want to learn is Python( or scripting in general) in Xsi, starting from the assumption I know Nothing at all about scripting. Starting with something really simple and building upon it.. I've been trying to learn it for ages from all kinds of sources, but I'm getting nowhere. Theres a real gap in the market for video tutorials on that.

I would do some myself, but I have to learn it first. Like I did with ICE.

While I agree there's a definite lack of good tutorials on scripting/python in Softimage, most of what you really need to learn in the first place can be easily picked up by generic Python training (or even, dare I say it, a good book). And there's always the "Intro To PYTHON Programming For CG" over at cmivfx.com, which isn't about Softimage either, but at least it's slanted towards CG. The only specific "scripting using Python" for Softimage tutorial, that I know of, is in written form and can still be found here.
Edit: it does however contain way too many errors, especially in the examples used.
After that you "only" have to dig into the SDK documentation and make some sense out of that.
This is, however, a daunting task, no doubt.

What I would like to see if some nice and basic explanation on caching out data of animated geo with/or ICE effects.
And bringing that back in, and mybe adding ICE on top again that uses cached values from the icecache.

I feel the documentation on this a bit confusing and missing some info.

Although this isn't a "tutorial request" thread, it might be nice,
if someone were to actually produce some tutorials about ICE Kinematics...
