In sacred geometry - which is modern terminology for an art form which has existed through out all histories, as shown below - the straight lines are considered mascu-line in nature. While lines which contain curves represent the femi-9 nature or energies.
Leonardo da Vinci studied the Flower of Life both for its exoteric, and esoteric properties:

"He drew geometric figures representing shapes such as the platonic solids, a sphere, and a torus, and also used the golden ratio of phi in his artwork; all of which may be derived from the Flower of Life design."
It is interesting to take note of how the phonetics of Da Vinci and Divine Chi are virtually the same.

The Flower of Life is the feminine version of Metatron's Cube, just as the Seed of Life is the feminine version of the Seal of Solomon (the hexagram). This is because, if you were to draw a line from the center of each circle within the Flower of Life pattern, and connect that line to the centers of the opposing circles, the pattern of Metatron's Cube is the result. The 5 platonic solids can be derived from Metatron's Cube, which many great Masters have consider to be the building blocks of life, or matter, energy, and soul (consciousness).
The Flower of Life pattern has been found in the temple art and manuscripts from the world over.
In Gnostic texts, it is stated that Metatron is a high level angel who incarnated on earth as the biblical Enoch. The Gnostics also state that it was Enoch who brought man the science of kabbalah, the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, and the related 22 Major Arcana from the tarot.
