rendering questions - linear workflow MR

Post by shadow_ex_ » 20 Feb 2011, 20:25

hello,i've been trying to use linear workflow to render
but something went wrong in the process it seems
lwf_m_.jpg
the idea is that i should get a nice looking image in the end without
having to use photoshop right?
supra_comp.jpg
i render some washed out colors it seems :(
from what i read thats probably double corrected textures
or i missed something

in that case i don't know how to fix it :\

thanks in progress^^

Your settings are fine but you forgot one thing: make sure the textures are set properly as well - they most likely arent :)

Open your browser - change to Image view and select (under Clips) all images and enter their property all at ones. Change Color Profile to Automatic. That should do the trick.

really thanks a lot for helping out :)

btw
the attachemnt might not be the correct place to find it :P

also the material (car paint) is washed out
but thats a procedural one there is no texture yet
is that normal?

I tend to keep my profile space in Linear instead of Automatic. I just do this so I know for sure that the images are being used correctly. Then all I have to do for the diffuse texture is go into the PPG under Adjust, for that image, and change it to sRGB, and I think most everything else stays linear. (I saw in your edit that you found it, but I just posted it here, on where to find it, incase someone else was looking for it as well.)

Also, for the last part of your question goto:

File > Preferences > Display > Color Mangament (The TAB on the upper right)

If you check those four options to "on" it will set Linear Workflow for Softimage throughout. You will now notice a dotted box around your color swatches. That indicates that you are using LW (Linear Workflow) for those colors. Now you just have to readjust your colors to work porperly in that Linear Color space.
