Lagoa usage

Post by Maximus » 01 Feb 2011, 20:26

Hey guys, i'm wondering...
i always see lagoa used for fluid and in duo with Polygonizer...
Also the simulation quality and substeps increase or decrease the simulation points (the Lagoa spheres you see in viewport), higher the sim quality is, smaller those spheres are and they increase in number slowing down the sim.

Now my question is.. do we always have to deal with those spheres? I mean..if i make a Lagoa throwing cloth sim, or a Jello or whatever, how can i transfer the lagoa sim to a custom object?
For example i want to break a glass of water, or i want a pen to be cloth, or well.. you get it
What is the Lagoa purpose? visual feedback of a simulation? Because i cant see a real use with custom objects, im probably overlooking something.

I dont understand how to apply the sim to objects, because indeed rendering spheres and little balls is kinda useless..
So do we only have a mesh blob polygonizer effect to render? i mean is a simulation environment only? Or we can actually use it to alter geometry and shapes..

been long time i'm tryin to figure it out, so far i just saw spheres spheres and cubes with lagoa..didnt see any real Geometry modified with the sim engine.

thanks, and i hope i was clear :D

I had to make some curtains the other day and used Lagoa for the cloth simulation. The only other time I used it, was for a fluid simulation back when it was SPH.

i just realized i said cloth, well cloth and fluid is where Lagoa mostly kicks in, i guess its made for those 2 kind of effects then

We also do medical animations from time to time. And Lagoa "jelly" presets have worked well for certain effects. Things pulling a part, cells dividing. bloby objects rolling down a surface. Stuff like that.
