edit: To minimise MY derailment of this thread,
I removed two previous posts
(one by me & one by nas)
that constituted the proof,
I have way too much power as a Moderator, :-
as this limit doesn't show up for me...
Another mystery solved (more or less):
there IS a three attachment limit (I was wrong!)
(except for Moderators...)

Sorry for the unnecessary confusion... :ymblushing:
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Really nice work, loving the illustrative/hyper-real quality of car and background.

Thanks, i do think though that i'm teetering on the edge of 'over-posting' it...Still had fun working on it! Here's the last image for now, one of the back, a change back to white....

Here's a view from in a parking bay. This image was a result of an experiment to see render quality over time. I wanted to see if i could get the same sort of results using shadow maps as opposed to full raytraced area lights.I was shocked to see hardly any noticeable difference with one exception...

The render time was obviously shorter,BUT, the render time was cut astronomically! Went from about 10hrs for the car beauty pass to about 1.5 hrs. The same was true for the background and all the other pass that needed shadowing.

I suppose both methods have their place but i was really happy to discover this as shadow maps are something i usually just skip over because i go straight to the 'physically correct/prettier' area light shadows...

Thanks shadow_ex_, a good source for cars that i know is: cg-cars.com, smcars.net, these two have a lot of material for learning. A cool site for tutorials and making of's is 3dtotal.com and 3dm3.com, these two have making of's almost everyday be it characters, animation lighting etc.

Thanks huzeyfecoskun, materials are nothing fancy, just arch materials. I'm finding more and more nowadays that as long as the general values of your renders are good, that you can tweak it all in post with aid of mattes( a cheat maybe, but hey 3d is cheating!). I'm still learning this process of post work...

Here's a night setup i thought id share, I set it up in a day because i havnt had time to work on it any longer:p...
