the bevel op works on selected edges, maybe that is going wrong on the cube?

ya, right ... edges need to beveled not polys, then it works with the cube. But not yet with other complex objects.
While still very cool results with simplified objects, on more heavy objects its getting out of hand:

gettin too fuzzy here

any hint on how i can avoid fuzz on edges with bent objects 'd be great.
