That looks like standard physically based rendering equation.rray wrote:Thanks for the links!

Le - emitted light
fr - BRDF
Li - incoming light
Lo - lighting you get on the end
cos - normal attuenation
and the integral with angle and 'dw' means that you need to take sum of those values along hemisphere (between 0 and 180 degrees).
It is writted a little different here but it's the same like in wikipedia:

Thanks so much Rork. That's kind of like eating an entire pizza and drinking wine sitting in a BMW right beside a homeless man....

Yeah, and when you hover over the SolidAngle name, it changes into the lighting equation.

Re: Arnold
I extracted this quote from the VRay thread to prevent further derailment of that thread...
(I personally couldn't afford it either way, so I have no problems there
),
the question remains: if and when will there be an "official release" (release party and all, official reviews all around, you know what I mean) or if will it forever remain a product of the "send them an email" variety?
And yes, Rork, I know you're not speaking on behalf of them, but you're the closest thing Arnold has for an "Evangelist" on our little forum...
;)
While I understand all that and I for one am willing to accept the licensing choices Solid Angle have madeRork wrote:And to all the "Arnold the urban myth" quotes...
Arnold is out there, and being used a lot. The fact that you cannot buy a single license as a freelancer or one-man band doesn't say it's vaporware.
If you're a studio, and are interested, an email is all it takes.

Re: Arnold
Meh.... Evangelist... not really..
Just trying to get proper information out there. There's enough clueless rambling or dumb quotations on the web already ;)
Not saying people on this forum are clueless or dumb
And all software is a matter of choice and wallet. There's lot's of software out there I like a lot, but don't have the budget for. Or just cannot find the justification for buying as I wouldn't use it very often.
For some, adding appr. € 900,- for V-ray to the Softimage mix will already be too much.
my € 0,02

Re: Arnold
See... that's just the kind of stuff people quote and get's out of context real fast.
As long as SolidAngle doesn't post anything official about release dates and pricing, anything else is just dribble.
No offence on your enthusiastic, but it just doesn't make any sense posting things like this.
They're serving different parts of the market, hence different pricing.
