Ok. Helge stopped develope plugins for SI, from Eric Mootz have no any news. Softimage team developed some small features for a whole year... We are left without goodies for softimage!

Well, I would go even further:
Judging from his website Eric Mootz is very much "in between" releases. Helge's remark in my last post clearly shows the team at Fabric Engine still considers Softimage viable enough to spend development time on it, Exocortex keeps on surprising us (and I doubt we've seen the last of Helge's Momentum in that respect), we've got some alternative rendering options and generally there are more commercial plugins for Softimage than ever before.

And don't forget: new addons, plugins and compounds of high quality are being released almost daily on a non-commercial basis. Discounting them almost seems rude...
:-

Half-full? If you take the past into account the glass is positively filled to the brim as far as plugins are concerned.

Softimage is still part of our plans - but please understand we're a small startup and have to pick our battles. We can't do everything at once :) a big part of our v1 release (due around Sigg) is focused on data interop - so Fabric will be useful for Softies. And remember the socket connection will be there too...

Deep integration into Softimage may not be so easy - Maya provides a bunch of hooks that allow us to work like this. Soft doesn't give the same hooks, so we have to investigate how to do it, and then work out how much time/money it's going to cost us.

Last point - we give developers access to all of our code. So someone might decide to build their own integration - we aren't the only option. If someone is interested in having a go at this, please get in touch with me.
