We are seriously looking at getting them for our Game Design / 3D animation students. Assuming we can get them in South Africa. Specialised bundles seem to always pass us by.

ZBrushCore has been unveiled today: http://zbrushcore.com
As expected it is rather limited and it looks like you can't export to other applications
(it only seems to export to 3d printing services directly).

Hey Hirazi!

But... Not even OBJ export or something like that?

It isn't mentioned explicitly, so I seriously doubt it... ;)

Edit: I've posted the question over at ZBrushCentral, but it hasn't been approved yet...

Right...

But if that's true, I agree that is somewhat limited.

An external convertion from stl to obj could work

What about normal maps can you generate inside the core app?

It does export to obj.
They added the info to their product page... Originally it only mentioned that GoZ was not included, but now it also mentions you can import and export obj-files (and export stl and vrml).

Another question: for someone like me with no experience with either sculpting or graphic tablets, what would you advise me to do: buy just the software or buy the Intuos bundle?

Get a bundle. Zb is all about brushes as name says, everyone uses tablet with it, as far as I know. You already know to hold a pencil, tablets are created with that ability in mind. Don't be disappointing by size of tablet :), actually it's size of real sketchbook.
