Well disconnect the one that links to the node called ICEtree, this is too force to restart again.
Another option is after disconnecting copy paste the working nodes into a new ICE tree and connect. This might be safer.

Re: ICE Task
Well you have to get better with icetree if you don't know how to create one. You have to make some effort to know the basics.
You have 2 Icetree in that point cloud, one non simulated and another simulated.
You don't delete them, you will copy them to another point cloud.
Go to Primitive > point cloud> empty - i suppose this an empty point cloud - i can't have access to your file it is in v2015.
With the empty point cloud you created selected open the icetree viewport. It should have nothing there.
Got to top left menu in viewport create and create a non simulated ice tree. Create> ice tree
Go to the old point cloud and select non simulated ice tree, select every node there except the last one called ice tree -, copy all nodes with ctrl+c , go to new point cloud and paste with ctrl+v
Connect the nodes to the ice tree node there. To be on safe side change the paramters first than connecting.
For simulated ice tree just instead of create>ice tree , create>simulated ice tree and copy the nodes from old simulated ice tree, not the non simulated one.

Re: ICE Task
have created the new pointcloud and copied the icetree contents over, but the new pointcloud seems to need some more, since it's now just sitting steady, not doing anything on playback.

Is it possible to save out the scene or ICE Tree for your SI version ?
