you need a linear interpolate node and interpolate between array before deform and array after deform (initial strand position). strand position > get array size = total entries. For position in array you would need to find another way. Not sitting in front of ICE currently, but you could dig into some fur tutorials/compounds from Kristinka or Melena and try to find the ones for clumping. There's a way to change the amount based on the position in the array. Try to dig into ICE a bit to get a more solid understanding how it works. It's pretty amazing what's possible.

Use the attached compound.
Get a 3d vector node and a multiply by scalar and multiply the vector with the output of that compound and feed it into the variance input.
With the strand fcurve compound you can do something along a strand.

Hi Helli for some reason StrandRatio truns red.
Hi Pancho Linear Interpolate works, but for the whole strand, as you have implied.

Discect the compounds from the hair solutions as I told you. You can learn a lot by doing this and find the solution how to "mask" certain areas. : )

Oh sorry then, then thats set in a Melena compound on emit thought this is a standart attribute.

Hey no problem. I myself am experimenting as well, so no harm in testing and failing. Btw StrandRatio is a standard attribute. Maybe I am doing something wrong. This is what I did with your compound.
3d Vector ---> Value Port of Multiply by Scalar
Result ---> Variance port of Turbulize
Your compound ---> Factor port of Multiply by Scalar

Hey there
I attached another compound.
After you created your strands you need to set your strandRatio, then you can use the strandFcurve node too,
This compound only calculates a new value for each strandposition between zero and 1 by dividing the actual point index of a strand through the total number of points on a strand.

But don't forget to look into the compounds and find out how they work
