Sure, it's generally known that (directly) insulting people is the pinnacle of professionalism. :(
Let's keep it civil, people... :ymhug:

Absolutely lets be civil, but lets also state the TRUTH.

"Chris Vienneau was responding to a thread on a private mailing list" ...that may well have BEEN true, but lets also clearly note that it was authorized by this very same person to be made PUBLIC*.

When comments are made public, by Chris Vienneau, or any other officer of a company. People have the RIGHT to comment on them.

You might not like that, you might not like the comments, simply put ...that's your problem.

If you nor he understand that fact of putting something in the PUBLIC space, then, as said, neither of you understand the way social media works, and clearly then neither of you should be making any statements that are public.

Hi all,

My name is Frank DeLise, senior product manager for 3ds max.

I would like to clarify a few things as there are a lot of rumors flying. First and foremost 3ds Max is not dead and far from it. That also goes for MotionBuilder, Softimage and Mudbox.

As the new (and old) PM of 3ds Max, my focus is to continue to develop 3ds max as the best tool for CG artists to continue to use on their projects, We are currently focusing a lot on improved performance stability and usability as we know 3ds max is an important tool for many CG proffesionals.

Both 3ds Max and Maya have ambitious roadmaps and they are important to our business, as are the other products in our Suites – so expect to see us continue to invest efforts in developing them.

We have many exciting additions on the horizon and I am happy to be part of the 3ds max team again.

Looking forward to working with you all!

-Frank
Couldn't help but notice an absence of "ambitious roadmap" for SI, but probably just the way sentence is constructed that it reads as such.

After being asked to comment on the actual rumor:
As for the animation question, while I cant comment on future versions I can say that our focus for 3ds max remains the same. To provide a rich feature set for CG professionals. This means advancements in all areas of the product for a wide range of markets. There is no agenda to focus the product more in one market than another.
