Facerobot fixes yes! Speed increases, tongue/blink rotation bugs fixed, better UI integration, OW viseme should split into ah-w automatically, horrible scale bug (the heads have to be gigantic or sculpts won't take), you can't use the eye look at control by keeping it stationary and turning the head. For that matter if you are caching the head you can't use it anyway because you don't know where the animated head will be looking so the FR head needs to be part of the rig (see bug about tongue/blink if you try this), lipsync editor only zooms at center and should zoom to cursor. I guess that will do for start haha!

I don't think complete overhaul for modeling but it does need to be more interactive. Map functions to mouse movements and button combos to avoid moving the cursor off the viewport.

Second the idea of modernizing the auto rigging and implement ICE into it.

Looove the idea of connecting multiple material nodes like Maya.

Lagoa update and better/easier ICE fracturing. Some of this kind of thing could be better automated.

Etc...

I was a bit more elaborate in the actual survey, but had to emphasize a few quick and dirty additions would just not suffice.

Who would work on this though? As far as i know, Tiago Kosta has been busy with that online collaboration service. Maybe he did find the time to work on Lagoa in parallel but i kinda doubt that. The fracturing part will be covered by continuous development of Implosia, hopefully.

BTW unfolding is sucks at the moment, it unfolds without a slider and if you want to pack your UV's you have to add unfold operator to your mesh. Also it doesn't have an option for normalizing UV islands. This workflow needs to be changed, there should be one click solutions rather then workarounds. Everything should be in the texture editor like old relax feature (Ctrl+R) which I use rather than unfold operator sometimes. In Maya relax operator works perfect that even you don't have to send your mesh to Uvlayout.

woodengun wrote:Yes, volume rendering would be a HUGE help. ICE is so amazing but you can't do too much with particles/Lagoa unless you export it out to a different package to render. I don't think the answer lies within Mental Ray, although I know there are twenty or so people out there that are hanging on to it.
Sorry, but that's total BS. At any studio where I've worked, I've only ever rendered particles through XSI. You simply loose all the control of the ICE/Rendertree integration, that is unless you're doing simple dumb points, so what's the point of exporting? If you need to render a shit-load of points there are at least 3 renderers available within XSI that do it much better than MR.

The volume renderer could certainly be simplified and given an update, no doubt - but it does what's advertised. If you're expecting FumeFX stuff then it's apples and oranges.

Here's the rough result form the first part of the survey:

The Simulation/ICE people win :ymdevil:

Well, it would have been quite a shock if ICE hadn't won.
We all know "ICE" is easier to type than, say, "Hardware rendering",
especially on those pesky iGagdet devices...

More interesting is the fact that "Rendering" came in a close second.

Funny, however, the way "OSX" snuck in there, yet again...
The dream lives on, apparently =))

Next up: a word cloud of the results?
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

interface is well designed, but, come on, customization is lacking

The old mainwin issues?
A port to a cross-platform UI framework would be really nice!

More than 50% of requests are related to adding features so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume people asked for additions to UI as well. Heres an example of how nodal interface can be a bit more elaborate: https://vimeo.com/17159440

I wish this survey was done properly, through an official channel (including Asian userbase).

Better than nothing, though. Well done to the organizers.

andy and company are doing their best to make sure this is given to autodesk/softimage.
