How do I reference a rigged/weighted model in a scene?

Post by Filmguy » 09 Aug 2013, 23:06

Hi Guys. Were currently doing character animation for a series but would like to have a referenced master character that we animate in the scenes.
The trick is that I would like to reference a rigged and weighted model in a scene (like Maya's reference object) and the model exporter only allows for 1 selection e.g. either the model or the rig and not both. Any way to to do this?

? You should be able to convert any selection of objects in your scene to a model at any point. (Create > Model > New Referenced Model). Once you do that, you can see the new Model in your Explorer and you should be able to export that to anywhere you want as a .emdl to be referenced into any other scene. What kind of rig setup do you have?

You can only export one model node. So put your model and your rig model inside a new model node and export as emdl.

Thanks Myara. I actually started playing around with it and got it to work the way you described :)
