Mixing cloth simulation and hand animation

Post by Robert_XSI » 13 Sep 2012, 11:48

Hi!

I have a task to do and collecting ideas for solution.

I have a nice wavy silky scarf which comes into picture with a nice bend and lays on the table by a product (colliding with them), then as blown by a small breeze it goes out with nice waves on it. So it should be somewhat snakeish with nice waves on it. I could hand animate the going in and out by a spline deform and lattices, but I can not blend the hand animation with the cloth simulation.

So how would you approach this problem.

Thanks a lot.
R.

You will have to plot the cloth animation first.

Hi Again Robert,

3 scarfs,

A animated with simulation
B animated by hand / spline

C is A blended with B with shape animation on the mixer or in ICE

or you could just use 1 scarf do each part of animation, cache these and then just blend the caches , you may need some stored shapes to help the blend
Gossip is what no one claims to like, but everybody enjoys.

Thanks SamHowell and Tekano for your help, I tried mixing two animations and one simulation and it looks promising.
