SPOILER ALERT - general Softimage 2013 description

Post by Hirazi Blue » 27 Mar 2012, 10:03

This is how reseller motionmedia.com describes Softimage 2013
Autodesk® Softimage® 2013 animation software delivers powerful new creative toolsets, a new high-fidelity interactive environment, and extended customizability, helping artists and Technical Directors get more from the product. Artists will enjoy greater creative freedom across the board: from the completely new CrowdFX simmulation feature set; to a new High-Quality viewport; to enhanced modeling, 3D animation, physics, and selection tools, Softimage 2013 helps artists create compelling content in less time. In addition, better interoperability with Autodesk® Maya® 2013 software and Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2013 software; and extensions to the SDK (software development kit) help facilitate integration into existing pipelines.

Why fail? Thanks you dear Motionmedia! :D
new CrowdFX simmulation feature set; to a new High-Quality viewport; to enhanced modeling, 3D animation, physics, and selection tools
:-t
No new ICE improvement? Seems strange... I'm quite happy about the possibilities gives by this potential news, but I was pretty sure we will see some new ICE feature (ICE hair?)
If not, really happy not only ICE are in softimage future.

Does release date today?

Well from those few words alone we cannot know what has actually been improved.
I am pretty sure crowd sims fall under the ICE category :D

It would make sense if the Crowd simulation tools were ICE based! So maybe there are new ICE tools.

Softimage 2013 - $3,745.00
Maya 2013 - $4,370.00
3Ds Max 2013 - $4,370.00

It's seems like SI is a cheapest package in AD bundle now

pretty interesting to read 3ds max description:

"Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2013 animation software delivers a powerful interactive rendering experience with ActiveShade support in the NVIDIA® iray® renderer; offers a new render pass system with integrated node-based compositing; and provides industry-leading interoperability with Adobe® After Effects® and Adobe® Photoshop® software. In addition, new motion graphics, 3D animation, and simulation tools empower artists to focus more of their energy on creative, rather than technical challenges, while flexible new customization options enable them to easily configure and switch between interfaces that are optimized for the way they work. Finally, enhanced interoperability with Autodesk® Maya® 2013 and Autodeskk® MotionBuilder® 2013 animation software helps facilitate pipeline integration."

especially this: "...offers a new render pass system with integrated node-based compositing..." doesnt seem to be Composite, maybe something new. Motion graphics tools too?

There's always one reseller who jumps the gun. Be patient people, deep breaths.

Sounds nice. Looking forward to more leaked or official info. :ymhug:

Also interesting, and only because we love to make up theories :
"From the SI quote"
In addition, better interoperability with Autodesk® Maya® 2013 software and Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2013 software
"From 3dmax"
Finally, enhanced interoperability with Autodesk® Maya® 2013 and Autodeskk® MotionBuilder® 2013 animation software helps facilitate pipeline integration
Scared that the max users will switch If they spend to much time in SI ? :D (just kidding)

Only thing missing is what they've done with ICE - it has some holes that need plugged.
