how to generate a sphere at a given point?
like the factory "generate 3D Point Grid" compound, but generate a sphere.

actually, i just want to generate a sphere "locations" and get some data from these "locations", for further calculate.

the img below show what i mean...

what kind of data you want to extract exactly ?

I don't think you can generate locations, because they are surface properties (unless the are invalid or undefined)..you can't generate a location at an arbitrary position, it works the inverse of this. So maybe in your case you need an array of positions and then get closest location from this positions on other objects, and then look for the information you need.

You also should know beforehand in what context you are working: is the sphere center at a single point (per object) ? or one sphere at each (filtered or not) point position (per point) ?

thank you for reply.
yes, i just need an array of pointpositions. then i can get data from the closest location on surface.
and i think the context should be array per point.

but let's make things clear, i really want to know is how to generate a 3d sphere. you know, the factory compound can generate a 3d cube. :)

maybe this thread can help ?

ICE Topology and parametric equations

search for the parametric sphere.

edit: and this is the final download link with all compounds: http://www.si-community.com/download/compounds/Dan_ICETopo_Pack1.rar
(thanks to Daniel Brassard!)

So I'm assuming you don't want to use a polygon sphere as reference for pointpositions (sphere->Generate Sample Set (set to all points); instead you want everything self contained in an ice node.

In that case, I would try to modify Dan's Topo pack Sphere compound (http://www.si-community.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2269) to extract the point positions. Thiago had a formula compound that also might make sphere's, but it's been a really long time since I've looked at that.

EDIT: Aw. Fabrico beat me to it....
