Hi,
I've learned that if you output a SELECTIVE SHADOW PASS in Softimage -> This pass renders out very fast in 3Delight -> I'm trying the demo version. If you invert that pass in Photoshop or in Nuke - > meaning black becomes white and white becomes black - > and you apply it to your AMBIENT DIFFUSE PASS in MULTIPLY MODE -> you get an effect that's almost as good as an AMBIENT OCCLUSION PASS -> only It renders a whole lot faster out.
See attached jpg file for the inverted selective shadow pass. -> I've used the free sponza object.
