@rray - Concerning the "ctrl_ghost_settings" addon you apparently distribute @rray:
is this basically the same version as the one we've got on our local server (see this post)
albeit conveniently packaged as an addon, or is this some new version "we" don't know anything about?
;)

Hi rray, very interesting, thanks!
It would be nice to have a test scene in common to compare the final result.
Do you know how it works for the association of graphics cards during the calculation?
I am a Octane user, and I use 3 GTX cards..

It all seems very grainy. I get the same thing. It's like it's ignoring the sample settings or something because no matter what I set it doesn't seem to refine it enough.

Edit: never-mind, it seems I had to set the min. samples much higher.

Magog: Not sure. I would think the cuda controller takes care of it, and present the 3 cards as 1 device to iRay

Mr Core: Thanks for contributing! Lighting and mats looks good but I gotta say I'm not really convinced by how iRay does dof. It just looks washed out, mental ray's normal dof looks better (2nd picture i posted looks like the paper got wet)

ActionArt: to what did you set it? I'll edit the 1st post then, I just used some made up numbers there.

I only had a few minutes to play but ended up with min rays at 2,000 and max at 20,000 which gave a smooth result. That's VERY quick and dirty testing though almost certainly can be improved upon.

So far it seems Iray spends a lot of time on bright areas that are already OK and takes a long time to remove grain in shadow areas. Maybe the right combination of settings would help this.

I do like it for the render region tool! Very cool.

what annoy me the most is the fact that due to no integration you cant save out renders in the normal way, you have to use the preview window...
This also happens with every other hidden stuff like IP, IBL etc..and so with iray its so frustrating..

I just checked iRay on my Softimage, but I get a constant out of memory error for my GPU (Nvidia Quadro 3700). Checking the Nvidia control panel tells me I have a lot of memory on my card, but only a tiny fraction is actually free. Does anyone of you perhaps know, how to find out what's hogging my GPU RAM and how to free it?
Otherwise this iRay stuff will pass me by completely (for now).
No big deal, but if anyone knows of a solution I still would like to hear it...
;)
PS I tried setting PhysX to CPU as I read somewhere that should/could help, but alas this didn't work either...
