Hi,
Is it true that the fastest way to playback your animation in the viewport is to use the realtime OpenGL view and to use a decent GPU?
In other words does your playback speed in the viewport increase when you use a fast GPU and OpenGL or Directx mode?
A question about animation playback speed
Re: A question about animation playback speed
First of all, Softimage uses OpenGL like any decent 3D app out there, not DirectX
But playback depends on a lot of factors, not just the CPU/GPU/driver combo.
It's all about how much (separate) geometry is in your scene, running sims, enveloped characters, complex rigs, active deformers like lattices etc etc.
It all depends on the scene at that point in time, and there are some 'tricks' to playback your scene. There's a ton of info in that fine manual ;)
cheers,
rob
