Siren light effects

How can i make a model of a light really look like it's emitting light?

something that's easy to setup in five minutes hopefully ;o).

The last thing that is missing from my real ghostbusters intro is Ecto 1 headlight and siren lights. i'd like to do it in program if possible. After Effects kind of looks noticeable.

Probably the simplest way, it's not meant to be photo realistic, I'd model and shade the siren as if it would emit light (bright yellow colors maybe for some inner thingie with a transparent reflecting cover around it) and then place two spot lights with wide angles pointing outwards, positioned completely outside of the siren so they won't affect the siren shading itself.

I think it'll work pretty good for the headlights.

the siren lights not so much due to the translucent covering.

For that you could create a point light, put it inside the siren and exclude the siren from the point light
(drag and drop siren object(s) on the light's "associated models" group)

actually, I take that back.

just saw it rendered. I rather liked the effect. Might not be as flashy photo like as the Zim animation guys, but for my more cartoony look it might work thanks :)

OK, so I rendered it out.

I like how the sirens look, but I don't like the strobing light on the ground. is there any way to shorten that projection so it goes just to the siren area?

use the light fall off ?

By the way, I admire what you're doing reproducing a ton of episodes but I have to say I don't like the colors of your images, you're always mixing purple and green and some other strange colors, brrr this gives me goosebumps.
Is there any chance you can explain me why this don't bother you ?

Cheers

as mentioned before, i am color blind.

even when i take direct screen grabs of color, from a 20 year old blurry still, it never looks right..
also, sometimes when i choose red, the color indicator never stays on the right side of the screen, it always goes over to the left side and it turns out looking more brown.

You could try working in B&W this would give a style to the pictures ?
