Trying to import animation to XSI

Post by wesserbro » 30 Dec 2016, 18:04

Want to test MotionTrail plugin on my animations from blender or 3ds max, but fbx export resamples fcurves 1 keyframe per frame.
Resampling or simplifying in softimage itself actually kills animation, so i was wondering maybe there is a known way to get original animation curves to XSI?

There should be an option to do not bake animation curves, in FBX export options. While I'm not sure, are all interpolations exactly the same in all 3d apps. Worth to try, anyway.

Yes, bake or not to bake option is there, but in max it somehow works only on simple objects (maybe hadn't kill dependencies completely on a rig), and in blender it exports baked anims with 'bake' and exports nothing even on a single cube without )
Anyway managed to make it work so-so via collada exporter: blender->collada->max->fbx->softimage

I found a dotxsi 3 exporter for max2017 maybe this might work better.

I don't have the link but you can find it if you search for this

I'm on 2014 version but sound interesting. Should give it a try, thank Manticor.
