Keyframing Polygon Island SRT animation?

Is it possible to animate polygons islands by keyframing?

Yes, it is possible, at least following two ways.
1. Select your islands and create a cluster with center. XSI put a null object you can animate later.
you can also do it in reverse by creating the null first then apply the deformer "cluster center"
2. Using ice to retrieve automaticaly your island, then create an ice tree to control them. you need to take a look around for the basic techniques and look particulary at the "motion tools addon" who can generate this setup for you

Option 1 above is not really convoluted. A polygon island doesn't have its own transform matrix so you have to have some type of operator to attach it to one.
