Zoom in/out/pan in the synoptic editor?

Is there any way to be able to resize the synoptic editor while scaling the entire synoptic image and map data with it, without having to recreate the synoptic? This would be especially useful for when I'm working on smaller screens (my laptop) and then when I need to work on my main desktop again, I can just resize the synoptic without having to drag things around everywhere.

I'm guessing that most people just live with it but I really wish that the synoptic window was treated as a viewport as well, then you could zoom in/pan with the 's' key...would make using the synoptic on smaller screens much more bearable imho..
