How to lock a hand to a chair while the character is moving

Post by NNois » 19 Aug 2009, 01:07

Hello, here is i guess a simple question, i'm sorry for that but I've had the knowledge to do that while i worked with "messiah" when i was on lightwave (a long time ago ;-)). Unfortunately I haven't the need until now to do this stuff, so could somebody can guide me a little on how to achive that on a biped guided rig in softimage ? I simply want to lock a hand on a chair while the caracter is doing some stuff.
Thanks !

Place a null at the desired position and then constrain your the mainbone of your hand to that position.
Of course this can cause somewhat of a problem if the handbone is a child of the ankle or some other kind of armbone.
You might have to break up your parentingstructure to do this.

Seems like a "handy" tool (pardon the pun!) :-bd
