How to make a bend animation just like Maya's bend?

Post by jerry7 » 11 Jun 2011, 09:33

hi,
i want to make a bend animation from straight(no bend) to a specified angle. Just like maya and 3dmax 's bend deformer work. In softimage the bend operator is controled by radius,The animation need to change radius from unlimited large to a specified angle,i don't know how to do it.

thanks for any suggestion !

Check out agBend
(I can't guarantee it still works, but it probably will) ;)
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

You would need to play with the "offset" parameters.
Set "amplitude angle" to 360, for the time being, and play with radius and offset (on desired direction axis).

There is this Bend ICE compound, as well.

Hello, my friend, i`m using a lot your Bend compound - great work!
but i`m running into a small issue - it is refusing to work, when there is something in the Simulation part of the stack -
i`m walkarounding this with duplicating object - not very elegant, do you have an idea why this is happening?
i`m seeing only math in your compound - must be some fundamental ICE flaw...

if you use a simulation stack the modeling stack is only evaluated once (at frame 1), you can put the bend deformer in the post simulation stack and it will be evaluated every frame.

Or you can execute the deformer inside your simulation icetree, but that probably interferes with whatever you're simulating.
