Hello.
I'm looking for some scripts/addons or features in XSI.I use modo for primary modeling package, but I really liked softimage for subd surface modeling.
Help me to find my usual tools
1)Its called select more/less http://recordit.co/7C7GWMuEIj
2)Select sharp edges http://recordit.co/VcVhbwniY2
(its make select by angle, and a can bevel it. Really fast and handy for mecanical stuff)
3)Tack tool http://recordit.co/w8ih4sy3Bn
( )
4)Fill Quads http://recordit.co/NnJviNMVCK
( )
5)In modo i can assigh shortcut on some operators. For example i have operator "group polygons" i can do on and off using command tool.attr poly.bevel group value:?+.
I know in softimage its possible using script editor, but i dont know how to do same thing on my object just using somthing like Application.SetValue("cube2.polymsh.bevelop.miter", value:?+, "")
Yeah i know its stupid cause name operators is differnt
New in Softimage. Need some help
Re: New in Softimage. Need some help
Hi
Select sharp edges isn't possible without an addon I think. Installing the rcTools plugin (see Resources) adds a component filter that supports hard edges.
For the tack tool there's nothing as interactive that works while moving the snapped object around (at least without using ICE or an addon).
The factory method for aligning one object to the other by components is you can right click the "Ref" mode button in the transform panel. Pick a component (=point, edge or polygon) on the target object then the snapped object becomes sort of parented under that component while in that mode and when you set it to 0,0,0 translation and 0,0,0 rotation, it should snap right to the picked component (shift-right click the "hamburger" in the transform panel to edit all values at once).
In case the snapped object itself was't centered around the component that it's supposed to snap to, before the above you'll have to do the same process using a component on the snapped object as the target, and the object center as the new snapped object (press the "Center" button to select the target)
Fill Quads looks very nice, I've written some plugin a long time ago that starts to fill quads step by step starting from an selection of edges. Maybe I can find it.

Re: New in Softimage. Need some help
Softimage has a Select Creased Edges Filter, which is not exactly the same as select Hard Edges, but since by default all Softimage Hard Edges are creased, then it's practically the same.
If you want to select by angle, there is this addon I wrote:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/98vdmdoasmure ... addon?dl=0
(I haven't updated the data on my website because, I can't remember my password lol)
For select more / less, I think rcTools does something similar.
