3Delight for 3DS Max 2.0 released

Post by MauricioPC » 18 Mar 2015, 21:01

Singapore-based DNA Research announced 3Delight for 3ds Max 2.0, the first commercial release of their production renderer for Max. The first license of 3Delight is offered for free (limited to 8 cores) and is available for download.

3Delight for 3DS Max is built on top of the 3Delight rendering core that was used in many film projects such as Robocop, TMNT, Elysium, Happy Feet 2, District 9, etc., and offers support for many V-Ray shaders for easy scene porting.

Feature highlights include:
Path-tracing and REYES algorithms – high quality rendering of smooth subdivision surfaces, fine displacements, hair, particles, motion-blur, depth of field and other hard to render effects
Multi-Light Output and Interactive Mixer
Multi-channel EXR and Deep EXR (EXR 2.0) support for tight integration with compositing software
Out-of-the-box support for OpenVDB and Massive
Seamless rendering of Motion Blur and Depth of Field without the usual extreme slowdowns and quality issues
Rendering doesn’t freeze the Max user interface
Easy to use physically-plausible materials
Advanced layers system
Support for V-Ray shaders
Support for third party plugins
As with all DNA Research rendering plugins and tools, the first license of 3Delight for 3DS Max is available for free (limited to 8 cores). Watch some introductory videos and find out more on DNA Research’s website.

Note: 3Delight for 3DS Max 1.0 was released last year to a limited customer base.

Question for those who have used.

How does 3Delight stands in comparison with Arnold and VRay? Is it faster? More robust? Easier?
