Hi there,
You are receiving this because you are a registered Lagoa user. After 5 years and 19K+ years of rendering time consumed, it’s time to close the doors on Lagoa.
Why now?
Lagoa started in 2011 with the mission to bring professional design tools to the browser. With our acquisition into the Autodesk family of products, that goal has largely been met. The Lagoa team is now completely dedicated to injecting our DNA into multiple Autodesk products, and we simply cannot give the Lagoa.com product the love and attention it needs.

Lagoa EOL
hehe, another EOL by email today
Re: Lagoa EOL
About "our" Lagoa, the big planned multiphysics update (which was almost complete last I heard several years ago) seems to have gone directly to the bin

Re: Lagoa EOL
Was there even any upgrade to Lagoa? i don't remember.
Re: Lagoa EOL
Not sure but I think there were some fixes, and small features added which must have been for version 2012.

Re: Lagoa EOL
So.... that is one less license for Softimage to worry about?
Re: Lagoa EOL
Despite the potential it had in SI, I don't think I ever used it on a project.....
But like Fabric, this is just another application in the long list of 3D apps that were. And at some point 3DStudio Max, Maya, Modo, Lightwave, Cinema 4D etc. will go the same way.
It's the nature of the software beast....

He's director of engineering for cloud platforms at Autodesk

he talks about the Softimage lagoa in that video
Re: Lagoa EOL
<< things are always getting 'better' >>
Re: Lagoa EOL
Remember "upgrades" ?
... when you use to pay only for what has changed.. -IF- you wanted, or at-all needed those changes on your shop's multiple workstations?
While there -can- be advantages to working in cloud .. like renting -can- have advantages.. (both in very specific circumstances),
it's something that's likely to be imposed in the same way and for the very same reasons as -imposing- temporary self-destructing licenses for all.
or 'The cloud' can be like the final frontier after
- upgrade price increases to almost as expensive as new licenses ,
- upgrade elimination altogether,
- Rental only for new customers
- Rental only for all customers (to "simplify")
Yep.. << always getting 'better' >> (better value)
until the bulk of everyone's salary gets funneled to shareholders.
(as if even that would be considered as "enough")
Really nice hat though...
Re: Lagoa EOL
Well nothing forbids you to buy shares isn't it ? I thought by 1999-2000 to buy Adobe,Autodesk shares since i contacted everyday with those products in school - today i'll probably be millionaire if i have done that. But at that time was a bit complicated to buy them in my country. Probably your social security have shares from them
Regarding "cloud" it is a BS that is an excuse to wrestle power from users in many if these situations. No problems using a renderfarm, something quite different is putting your stuff dependent from another company.

Re: Lagoa EOL
Yeah that's the solution!
we should all buy AD stock!
(or be one of the shareholders ->betting<- on / supporting AD successfully funneling more and more out of everyone)
to maybe get back some of the funds excessively funneled out of ourselves,
and maybe profit from the excessive mass funneling-out of everyone.
Good thinking!
Though although that's what investors have been essentially doing (stock price hasn't stopped going UP)
while customers (not all that gullible), haven't been buying into it at-all, (actual revenues haven't stopped dwindling DOWN)
even when taking expected dips into account, now almost a year post-rental-only for all.
But even if a bounce back was a guarantee, it wouldn't exactly qualify as "ethical funds".
(not that that registers a decisional factor for many investors)

Re: Lagoa EOL
Well asset inflation is mostly due to a monetary bubble by central banks to fight the blow up of credit bubble...
My "ethical funds" are not probably like yours or anyone else, i will not have any moral problem buying Autodesk shares. But i think the company is not well managed. <--- caveat some not well managed companies still make loots money. Legacy counts much.
Let's turn to Lagoa. I don't think its implementation was very good, seem it always something rushed maybe based on contract work and not polished. The presentation videos were very nice but then neither there were much tutorials and support.
Actually i think the only person that nailed ICE and presented it to the user like it should was Eric Motz.
