Wow, that's quite a hefty (in the good sense of the word) line-up... ;)
Maybe add Stephen Blairs catch-prase to the title of the event to mark the event even more: exS-SI Übertage:?

Would love to see recordings of those online later, if possible.

Although it's quite understandable if there are alot of presentations around Softimage replacement runners-up

Yet just by curiosity, have you ever considered remote (like skype screen share) presentations?

It would surely not be as direct (and perhaps even choppy at times)

but wouldn't it would allow to host presenters from all over, and allow to say.. contacting people that participated in some of the work showcased in the 'great soft work' thread, and therefore perhaps have a bit of Softimage content?

(considering there is perhaps not as many soft users near Siegen as there use to, while there are still really quite an considerable number of equally astounding things done in Soft this year, as probably the next ... )

cheers,

Hey Fxdude!

I see your point...
Well...this meeting was and is about real people, real presenters etc. and some social interaction in real life ;)
So, no, I actually have not considered virtual presentations. They can be held by everyone, always and can be shared on vimeo, youtube, whatever...no need for making the effort to organize a user event to watch them all together, I guess...

Well, sadly all the Softimage studios I asked were not able to share stuff this year. And it´s getting harder to get anybody motivated to make a presentation for a dead software..therefore, I´m glad that I finally got some mixture in this years presentation, although Soft is not present...I tried, but it did not work..so, reality strikes here.. ;)

cheers,
oli

I guess it was weird to see an Ubertage with litterally 0 Softimage, while theres all this stuff being made.

And some are waiting for some of the presented solution to become more comparable in production speed benefits for instance, and they would have been delighted to see some softimage stuff. (if not everyone)

But oh well...

Good thing you dropped the "Softimage/XSI" from the brand name then... :D

...well, a "certain"* company dropped "Softimage" first, don´t mess up the causal chain ;)

Hate part not necessary.

But it would have been great to show how Soft can run circles around (to this day, usually way more complicated or involving) VFX productions with it's eyes closed! (because it's true, and the very reason why despite all the crap are people sticking around t'il a better time) ... and you know .. dead when we say so!
