Thiago Costa and his teammates are presenting a "New era of DCC tools"

If you go to there web site http://getteamup.com/
you'll see the Softimage elephant in some kinda sand volume, rendered with what looks like Arnold.

so the guess is ? :-?

Web based application for remote teamwork and collab. Probably nothing to do with Softimage. Just a guess.

So Fabric Engine meets trueSpace?
Probably explains why it has been so quiet on the Lagoa front... :-?

I'm just returning from the FMX. There has been some amazing stuff to watch and listen to. Unfortunately I didn't run into any familiar faces. Would have loved to see the solid angle event, but needed to leave today.

No presentation of SI in the workshops nor the autodesk booth (afaict).

Cheers
Thomas

FMX is very much a different style of show to something like Siggraph and GDC, so we don't have the type of big booth presence, where we're showing product. We did have a small booth this year, where my two german colleagues were on duty. They're Max and Maya respectively, but anything shown would of been Suites based. I haven't been to FMX in a while, and unfortunately I wasn't able to make this year.

Yes, the booth was only about half the size of what it has used to be. But the were many of the major studios present to show off and recruit folks. "Join us! Join us! Join ..."

There are more people there promoting maya than you might think. I tuned up earlier when i saw this thread and the guy was talking previz for Real Steel. Couldn't shutup about maya. ;)

Interestingly, the guy who was talking about Upside Down called their mysterious tool simply "software" even though you could see by the displayinfo box and familiar shading scheme it was softimage viewport capture.

Should i read anything into this? :))

P.S. Oh boy, im kidding. Hopefully you dont mind.

lol, I didn't know that....there's nothing to read into though. It's no surprise that Maya gets mentioned alot in films like Real Steel, Maya is at the heart of so many film pipelines.

FMX is a really good show and I think its better than its not like the big expo style like GDC, NAB and Siggraph. It's always been alot more focused about production talks, lectures and panels, and they get some really good speakers. Plus it's always been a big recruitment vehicle for studios, in particular the London based ones.
