Everybody drool on things that showed on tech presentations that works if you a programmer that can write these tech presentations.

Oh, and yes, brand new GTX XXX FULL POWEH thing.

I remember dx10 and dx11 was a boom for couple of years before. dx10 was dropped from Softimage, even videogames mostly not uses dx10/11 since it mass market crap. Except gpu geometry instances feature that not so useful for games.

And about that real time shatter simulation - just listen what and how he says things about geometry and calculation of hlsl shaders! This lazy pr is aimed at non-technical people.

Momentum bullet integration and Implosia shatter do this with cylinders almost at the same speed on the cpu. But HEY! Do you remember that hlsl shader should be process at the same time? Whoa, it definitely worth 1000$

And sorry for double posting, I know that I'm not making friends by posting this but it just felt right to say that

ok ok, but were you not impressed by it running a fluid sim/poligonization/raytracing in real time? come on :)

Amount of water and reflected objects was spectacular. About RT raytracing - turn video to full screen on 720p resolution, you'll see aliasing all over the place

I'm was more impressed with your tests of lagoa advection method than this. And just imagine a next step: you'll have to cache simulation still. So why would not it be better to buy solid-state drive for better caching time? Or if you make a game why would you spend all resources of the card for water sim and limit the players with old hardware?

In every single way that I'm thinking about it, it has no practical use in daily life unless you're the programmer that can write software for gpu farms

There's been so many awesome demonstrations of what can be done but nobody (with the possible exception of Houdini) has managed to produce a single product that is production ready for the average user. Fast volume rendering of very realistic smoke effects was demonstrated by Nvidia years ago...I'm sure there are reasons but it's so disappointing.
