I assume this is a pre-release/beta version of the documentation
as I can't seem to get the search function to work in either User's Guide or SDK docs.
(And I'm using a supported browser for once... :p )
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Yeah it's broken. dunno if its beta, I just changed '2' to '3' in link and it worked. At least we can already learn about crowd stuff ;) Also it seems there's some interesting stuff going on with mentaldelay

Does this mean we can use the MetaSL Shaders?

You guys see the new shaders?

mental ray > Texture > mia_exposure_photographic_rev

mental ray > Material > misss_fast_shader2

mental ray > Material > misss_fast_shader2_x

mental ray > Material > misss_mia_skin2_surface_phen

mental ray > Material > misss_set_normal

mental ray > Lightmap > misss_lightmap_phen

mental ray > Material Phenomena > misss_mia_skin2_phen

mental ray > Material Phenomena > misss_mia_skin2_phen_d

Realtime > OpenGL > GLSL Actor Envelope shader compound

Realtime > HLSL > ultimap preview

Realtime > CgFX > ultimap preview

Realtime > CgFX > mix_4_layers

It's in the 2013 "whats new" section of the wiki...

Should be there! :-B

Irradiance Particles and Final Gathering
You can now use irradiance particles together with final gathering. However, the final gathering settings take precedence over the irradiance particle settings. In particular, the irradiance particles' Intensity and Interpolation settings are not used. See Using Irradiance Particles with Final Gathering.

This one works: http://download.autodesk.com/global/doc ... userguide/

I guess Wiki was not the right term, sorry.

I checked briefly the docs, and I am disappointed...

No modelling enhancement (there are bug fix, but that's all)
No Texture Editor Enhancement (no symmetry, no proportional editing, etc.)
No Hair enhancement... (seriously, it's crap)

HQ viewport seems really funny, but that's all...if the time spent on developing HQ could spent on other stuff, real improvements...

Seriously, do you listen to the users?

What happened in the last year?

Its the first time since i use soft that i wont use any of the new things they added. Mostly disaapointed by mental ray not being touched.
Its so depressing and frustrating that i have to spend another year using old stuff and no new features from this engine, this is seriously a joke and a problem.
I guess there is no point anymore in renewing my sub, lost hopes into a rendering update.

I cant find anywhere if they fixed geometry shader or framebuffer. Still have to fight with a non resizable preview window that crashes 90% of my renders. I wonder when AD will take a serious overhaul of the whole rendering department. Its really a total shame.

I guess they ARE listening to the users, yet the userbase is a diverse bunch. Small studios/freelancers on the one side of the spectrum, large effect-shops on the other.
We don't know the numbers, but I believe there's a strategic reason why CrowdFX was introduced this time.

Actually, mental ray has been touched. There's FG&IP mode now. New build number, fixes and speed enhancements (that's all I found googling).
The Render Preview window is a joke, true. What's the big deal improving that, I wonder.

Have you considered using VRay? Besides already having that said Render Window, it is a versatile and fast renderer.
