Hi!

Updates first post ;)

@hirazi
..no embedding this time, sorry. I want to keep it just at vimeo in order to have some less confusing statistics ;)

cheers,
oliver

I understand, you could however use our url= tag to make the first post slightly cleaner/clearer:
something like ARNOLD at "Softimage|UeberTage 2010" (Part I) ;)

@redmotion
...yes, its running an 8 core workstation with hyperthreading. Even on an i7 its quite fast.´The absolute cool thing is, that glossy mats, softshadows, dof or motionblur doesn´t eyplode the rendertimes...

Owei, what kind of 8 core? dual xeon but how much ghz per core?

my i7 @ 4,2 ghz is actually only 5% slower when rendering than dual "i7 based" xeon 2,4ghz rigs we have here at work. Single threaded tasks are faster (4,2 vs 2,4)
Due to GHZ, or inability to overclock xeons.

@origin
...it was modern CadNetwork dual Xeon workstation (around 6k euro). Don´t now the exact specs anymore. I think 2.8ghz
My pimped i7 is doing a nice job with arnold too ;)

best

I'm lucky enough to be able to beta test Arnold too, on a AMD 6 core 3.2 Ghz, and compared to MR it's so much easier to get good results. And much faster too.

Using DOF, glossy reflections, displacement, motion blur, instances etc., it's all very simple to set up and quick to render. Yes, even a lot of times all at once ;-)
And like owei says, adding stuff like DOF and motion blur doesn't really adds a lot to the render times.

I really can't tell more, other than that Arnold is successfully being used in movie & commercial productions all over the world. And no, I don't know when it will be released to a bigger public and in what form.

And I was accused of rubbing in too much the fact I finished downloading the SAP 15 minutes earlier than others ;)

AFAIK the betalist is not taking any more testers atm, unless you're probably from ILM or something ;-)
