CAP- Screenplay development

Post by opentarget » 23 May 2010, 14:37

this new thread will be for posting updates to the communit animation project.

in the new versions i have just uploaded i have cut the dialogue out completely, this is mainly done because in the ideas and synopsis people expresed worrie over having a dialogue based film, i actualy agree, this is a softimage community project and not everyone in the community speaks english as a native tounge, so why would we have a film based around dialogue if we could avoid it?

anyway version 002 is a direct edit of the original just altered to have no speaking.

version 003 is a shorter version of 002 that has cut a lot of the text conversation that is shown in the online date site...i think the less reading we have for people the better.
have a look and see what yous think.

Could be that I'm missing something, but in editing out all text (and the PC), you also edited out one plot element that was important IMHO, namely, that the calling of the pizza delivery guy/girl most definitively wasn't the first options our "hero" had in mind. How this should be translated to a script without spoken/written text obviously is another thing altogether...

Ye tell me about it! I'll go back and look over it again, anyone else have thoughts on the updates?

Just a thought: You could include the online dating bit as an icon driven (as in (almost) no text) 2D screen,
with large icons to denote the unwillingness of certain candidates...
That would take this problem off the hands of our screenplay writer and into the hands of the designers...
(And could possibly add a nice visual twist to the short!)
