Conceptual: Style/Mood Board

Post by aminate » 20 May 2010, 00:38

I've started putting together a style/mood board for the overall feel of the short. I have a little bit of server space that I'd be happy to host a gallery on for others to upload things they find as well.

Everything is still very rough, and obviously open to fresh ideas, But I think it could give us a good start while the script is maturing and maybe get things rolling elsewhere. Not to mention, hopefully attracting more heads on this project.

Found this great site full of 2d art:

Maybe there's something for the CAP here.

I like the colour palette on this one: http://thedesigninspiration.com/illustrations/charon/

The angular stylised facial appearence of this http://kweli.deviantart.com/art/HIM-all ... -128949841

I moved the posts pertaining to the mood/style to this thread. I think that's according to your suggestion... ;)

wow thats a great start red!
style wise for the charecters i like the one you found most so far:
http://kweli.deviantart.com/art/HIM-all-washed-up-128949841

im not crazy about the last 2 images u found for vamp.

aslo that fireplace!? what a stunning piece, i really like the idea oh having such a clasic/gothic style in a room filled with modern day tech that is scatered around the place, it will really show his high birth and the modern world he lives in with his familys clasic style and old money.

outside the house link 1 is also cool, but not medevil enough? the exterior is shown in the opening scene but perhaps its a lot of extra work involved in realising that shot.
im starting to cut a load of these together into a mood board and geting a few options for a colour scritp for the piece togther, ill upload it in work 2mo(were on a bankholiday weekend over here.)

i think we should have our finalised moodboard done by the end of the week so we can start to rope in some concept artists to realise our style. what do yous say?

Fair enough.

Just to fill you on my choice of external view (I'd prefer no external views tbh) is that it is sitting in a modern city and in a US-style mock-gothic house (rather than genuine gothic/medieval) which is a more humorous take on this to me.

As for the Vampire, I cetainly don't think he should look like this guy (maybe his father but definitely not him.):- http://kweli.deviantart.com/art/HIM-all ... -128949841

I certainly can't imagine him being much different from an early 20's young man, average build, average looks, dark/longish hair - I guess my choice of images was demographic only, not visual the actual appearence/style.

I would like to say that all artwork is from:
http://thedesigninspiration.com/category/illustrations/
and that the copyright is 100% the makers of the original images and i only whiped it together for referance and did in now way mean to pass it off as my own or this communitys work.

I assume the pictures in your commented versions are taken from aforementioned sites.
Adding some kind of credit remark (as in: "linked from") to that post wouldn't hurt...
(and would make this Moderator "soooo happy"... :ymhug: )
