Great find! Tho watching these I'm reminded of what a noob I am for the largest parts of Softimage.

Also curious about Phil's new website motion-mechanic.com (spotted on his taskbar)

Started to take a (more or less) serious look at this material and it has to be said: this is really awesome stuff. Makes you wonder what else is gathering dust on the hard drives of beta testers...

Let's just hope Softimage will do the right thing (what Jason Brynford-Jones AKA Chinny hinted at on the Mailing List) and make this available "officially", publicly and independent of the bandwidth of friendly volunteers...
And we spoke about it today and most likely will upload them as zip files to the wiki.

Thankyou for posting this. This kind of thing should be much more widely available.

Does anyone have this tutorial and don't mind sharing a link to a download? Looks like it was a great tutorial but now not to be found.

I believe this to be the "original" download location/mirror: Building the Rabbit Rig (Right-Click & Save As)
I haven't tested the current state of the download myself
(I downloaded it way back when, and it's too long to bother now, sorry)
You're going to need 7-Zip to unpack it...

I remember having read somewhere that nowadays there would be "better" ways of rigging with ICE (the rabbit rig being a few years old already)

But I'm unable to find that quote anymore - nor any hints on how the proposed better ICE rigging would work.

Grateful for any hints there!

Thanks for the link.

Downloading now. I had some files that may have been corrupt. So I'll see how this goes.

As far as current, at least this should give a basic understanding of the process. On this improvements could be built. And if anyone has suggestions or other tuts that'd be great. I do have the ICE tutorials page here bookmarked and there are some rigging tuts there.

Indeed ~x(
btw found this mailing list thread..
https://groups.google.com/d/topic/xsi_l ... discussion
talking about how per-limb ICE trees have a better performance than the 1-tree setup from the rabbit rig.. But not sure with all the ICE optimization pitfalls around, if this worth an attempt.
