The OpenGL PPG not showing is a bug. I will fix that if possible or go back to old behavior if it's not possible.
As for the slow drawing, that's just because the standard_shader is HUGE. It has so many PPG items. The Softimage way would be to use tabs in the shader PPG. That might speed things up a bit. I will do a test.
Thanks for finding these!

In regards to possible issues, you may also want to post them there :: https://github.com/Autodesk/sitoa/issue ... is%3Aissue

In other news, they have just impelemented support for shader "operators"!

Sorry for taking so long but we found quite a few nasty bugs in SItoA that started to show with Arnold 5.3.
Anyway, here's a beta for SItoA 5.3.0 using Arnold 5.3.0.2 (windows only). Please test it and report any issues. Final release will come after at least one more Arnold Core bugfix has been released.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/u71eruq0akanr ... addon?dl=0

New Features
  • Operators (on passes, not on procedurals yet)
  • GPU Rendering
  • New Adaptive AA
  • Visible area lights
  • standard_surface changes: Coat Anisotropy added, Transmission Extra Roughness can have negative values
  • New uv_projection shader
  • New matrix_interpolate shader
  • Autobump Visibility
  • Ignore Motion and Instantaneous Shutter
SItoA specific enhancements
  • General support for Shader Parameter Arrays
  • closure shader is now bypassed and no longer exported to Arnold. This was a necessity to get GPU to work. But this is actually a very good thing and it will also make .ass files from Softimage more compatible with other DCCs.
  • New Enlarge buckets in progressive IPR option that makes the buckets larger when rendering progressive (only in Render Region). See #67 for more information.
  • standard_surface is now added to Scene_Material onn new scenes and default light is brighter with a little soft shadow.
  • 4 new tests in testsuite for Operators, Visible area lights, Autobump visibility and GPU rendering
Bug Fixes
  • Couldn't inspect Material
  • Several Strand issues fixed
Known Issues
SItoA crashes on some machines when trying to get a license from Autodesk License Manager (FlexLM). It's currently unknown what's causing this. RLM licenses work fine.
If you get this crash/bug, please let me know.

I get a crash right before a render starts (region, preview doesn't matter)
5.3 and 5.2 have that issue, 5.2 beta was the last version that worked fine for me.

I use FlexLM. I tried turning it off so it should render with watermark, but it still get the crashes

Let me know if/how I could help.

If you enable "Skip license check" you can render.
The thing is, not all machines show this bug. That makes it really hard to find what's causing it. But thanks for the screenshot, that might be helpful.

Btw, the first time you try to render with GPU it will take a long time for the render to start. That's because the shaders need to be cooked first. Just wait for that to complete! If you abort during this process, you have to restart Softimage and start again.

Could the crash be because of my license? It's the latest one downloaded from the AD website (still on maintenance) but it says,

Users of 86985ARNOL_2018_0F: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

so, 2018

shouldn't it be 2019? Does anybody else use FlexLM?

I don't think it has anything to do with the actual license. It's a bug introduced in Arnold 5.2.2.0 that has gone unnoticed until now. You can follow along here https://github.com/Autodesk/sitoa/issues/74
We have 10 Arnold licenses on FlexLM, so you're not alone in using that. I will try and get AD to fix it and I really hope they do.

Thanks for that!
Shouldn't it affect Maya and Max too if it's in ai.dll? I'll try to reproduce it on Maya (although the latest Arnold probably won't work with my 2016 Maya version any more)

It seems to be a bug that's only happening in Softimage :(
Is your license served locally or from the network?

It's a network license, Server and XSI a running all on one PC

I'll be posting here too https://github.com/Autodesk/sitoa/issues/74

...for anyone affected by this but check that github threads there are some (nasty) workarounds
Found a way .. once again yet hackier 😵. Use a hexeditior like HxD to search for the string "adlmint.dll" inside AdClmHub_1.dll. Rename it there and rename the dll itself then Arnold will use the renamed one and it will work.

Not sure if a patched dll like this may be distributed though

That's because it's a AMD GPU.....
