rray.de has moved here

Post by rray » 01 Oct 2017, 21:10

The Softimage Resources website rray.de/xsi has been moved from its original location over to this website.
rray.de/xsi will still remain live for a couple of months, but will not receive any more updates.

The new version has a couple of benefits over the old version now that php can be used. The most imporant one probably being search speed! There's some options of tighter integration with the forum itself too.

As a first test, forum post that are linked to from a plugin now show the plugin at the top - whether that is a good idea is still open for discussion of course.

The next goal is we're still looking for ways how to be able to make it easy to quickly post a comment to any plugin, also the ones that don't have a thread here yet - without having to create hundreds of new threads!

Well anyway just a little status update :)

:) :) !

Like RRay.de on sterroids, & fairly deeply embedded in SiCommunity (& probably yet more deeply later)

Like if you go to say the recently updated m|GridUV thread,
you'll see the corresponding SI-Res item that's (automagically) referenced in it's thread ...
( always present pertinent info., links, etc, of the item in question, whichever page you are, or land on from searches.)

That, among a bunch of other features, including supersonic speed!
speed when searching.. item appearance when scrolling down... clicking on fully combinable filtering tags ... ... *-:)

( I've been topically testing/giving feedback while it was in the works )

Needless to say, RRay has litterally been in an upgrading streak marathon lately :)

Kudos!

Woah, this is amazing. I will try it out in Firefox. The last rray database seemed to only work well in Chrome!

Cheers fellas!!

No additional DCCs planned, I wouldn't mind seeing them added by other users but there's no user interface at this point, just 1 big xml file and a java program to turn it into a buch of sql commands that create the db.

That said there's an idea floating around using forum threads directly as the resource database (in a special yet-to-be-setup sub forum). That would mean anyone could post anything they want, with tags for any software. But still a quite far away idea..
