Does the forum has a font size preference somewhere? I find the current size (10pt..?) a tad small, especially with large pieces of text.

It's my age dammit! I can't read properly anymore!! @-)

IKR!!
I just noticed it uses Trebuchet for body text if Lucida Grande is not installed . Trebuchet is smaller at the same pt size (Using 10 indeed!).

I'll see if I can use a Web Font. I think Roboto is nice https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto

- to answer your question I don't know about a forum setting, you can use browser zooming though, the "reponsive" css takes care you don't get scrollbars.

Nice tip about the browser zooming, didn't know it will take care of the layout. Nice!

Also I've been meaning to ask,
what would you think of having things more centric to the  Active Topics  page ?

Meaning as the actual home page, and the page that we are lead to when logging-in / logging-out ...
and from where we could post new topics while setting the category in the topic editor.
(instead of having to navigate to the board index, and enter the category to create a new topic)

:-?
I added a new topic button into the active topics list ~o) Mostly a copy of the jump forum button. It goes a little into that direction I guess :-B

Huh!

Replying was always easy, but new topics was a couple of pages of navigation now collapsed into 1

so thats already pretty cool! :)

I searched a bit, and out of the few methods found (some seemed quite elaborate),
the following seemed like the most straight forward, but I don't know how much of a feat it would be,
but maybe tryng it in the sandbox?

phpBB • How can I show active topics on homepage?
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2383376

phpBB • Board3 Portal - Contribution Details
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... ortal_ext/

.... also... , how about a new favicon.ico? :)
whipped one up from the thread title icons. 16px & 32px

An .ico is attached if you want to try it, and let me know if any changes or suggestions!

Stuff I noticed :)

  - Page number intensity has been toned down,

  - Background had a slight doubling effect at the top,

  - there is a new ver. of the "little flame" topic icon,
( I think all of those need to be replaced because these seem to be made to work on dark backgrounds..
and considering their small size, could easily be little pngs )

  - Fonts have been changed.
( I actually liked 'Trebuchet' more than 'Arial' but which is also good)

  - Extra space on the top of headers have been reduced,
and topic page numbers go under the titles when insufficient space for both on the same line.

- Site icon has rounded corners

  - Attachment boxes are now readable (and fancy)

and probably other things I didn't notice :P

Heyyy nicely spotted ! full 10 points! :D
Page number intensity has been toned down,
Yep! maybe easier on the eye :-?
Background had a slight doubling effect at the top,
Can't see that, it's in the rendered background picture?
there is a new ver. of the "little flame" topic icon,
( I think all of those need to be replaced because these seem to be made to work on dark backgrounds..

Yepp! They all could use a remake. Haven't found a way to replace gifs by png though, because they have IDs and I'd have to mess with the db if I want to keep the old icons.
Fonts have been changed.
( I actually liked 'Trebuchet' more than 'Arial' but which is also good)
Couldn't decide for any good font, Arial is a bit bigger than Trebuchet, and one of the go-to ones as well. Could have increased font size but then everyone who doesn't have Trebuchet would have gotten rather big other fonts.
Extra space on the top of headers have been reduced,
and topic page numbers go under the titles when insufficient space for both on the same line.
Indeed! :)
Site icon has rounded corners
Yapp! Tried yours but the X looked a little off center when inside the tabs, so back to the old one with 4 pixels removed :D
Attachment boxes are now readable (and fancy)
Yey!
and probably other things I didn't notice :P
2 more - Spoilers
Hidden content: [ Show ]
Online users and Statistics on main page in 1 row
Hidden content: [ Show ]
Topic headers has "Topic/started by" now & switches to "Topic/last post" when you resize the window down 8-x
About the active topics centric view.... was thinking about redirecting to the old page after logging in, but then don't known enough php to do that. It doesn't allow me to use current page url in the places I would need to. %-(

I mentioned it because it was the case (at least in my browser), but now it's fine.

So maybe you changed something that fixed it without knowing?   : )

and ok for the active topics centric page, already good that we can post from the home page!

and also, I like the arrow to the last page! It's more obvious than when it was the little square besides the text. :ymsmug:

I haven't read all the 4 pages of this thread, so if this has been mentioned already, please just file it as "+1" regarding the issue: I'm a UHD user and I welcome the bigger font but dislike the fact that the text section (i.e. the forum itself w/o the top gallery) stretches the whole display, side to side. I'd much prefer it to have 20% of screen resolution on each side. Luckily I browse on my 27" because if I were to use my 32", it would be horrendous from an ergonomic PoV.
With that aside, congrats for the big forum upgrade!
p.s. I'm using the "light" theme. I won't consider using the "classic" called "prosilver" IIRC

Thx! No one mentioned that yet, I'm at 1920*1080px so never noticed. I'll try limiting the width to FullHD width and see if the gallery feature still works.
So maybe you changed something that fixed it without knowing? : )
or remembering =))

btw swichted to Segoe UI for the main font, seems as legible to me, and not as overused as Arial.

Also removed the topic title and poster repeating in every post. Not sure what sense this did make. Let me know if this causes issues!!

For the width, how about if everything was limited (and centered) if resized wider than a certain width?

And what if the BG stayed fixed? (with evertyhing sliding on top when scrolling)

or better yet, does PhpBB support some of those nifty 'parallax' (half scrolling speed) backgrounds ? :) :-?

Much better now IMO. Feels more like a forum rather than a CSS lacking html page.
