I just replaced the logged out theme with the "classic light" theme. I like the dark theme better - would like to swap them out but that would break everyone's habit.
Also I must admit, I too am more fond of the darker theme,
I would personally be for letting it remain consistent logged in or out, with perhaps a very prominent, but not all color-scheme changing, login status ?

In either case, as mentionned, things are already looking pretty great as they are.

Kudos!

Hi,

Here is the White frame around donate button ::

I'm far from using one of the later Firefox versions (v30 something?)
but perhaps it also shows-up on later FF versions? I don't know.

I too like the light theme alot,

If anything, I think it looks a bit rough in the post view ...

to show what I mean, here is a mockup with subtler variations between even/odd posts
and less intense quote bg intensity.

( you can click the image to compare back and forth between them )

Nevertheless nice work!

Agreed - also with 3 different colors it's not easy to find a color for the signature that is impossible to read in one of them. Used the css eyedropper on the colors from you picture :)

Added the "topic solved" phpbb extension as well, activated it for some of the boards where it makes sense. I think I'm done now =p~

Cool!

... and :) ... if you would allow some last suggestions (or some nit-picking),

-- I think also the font intensity of the quoted fonts should slightly increase, or just to say that it differs from the non quoted,
as just the fact of there being a difference, is enough for easier (instant) differentiation.

-- secondly, how about making the post title the same as the site logo ? (on that BG)

Image

-- and lastly the main site highlight color is teal, and I personally think the hover and click colors should be different intensities of teal, instead of the reds.
(only if it doesn't mean replacing too many colors everywhere).

In any case, as mentioned, it's mostly nit-picking and personal thoughts, and both themes are looking really great! :ymdaydream:

and also ...

all good ideas *-:) I'll do that when I'm back home!

There's an issue with the new media tag, it won't work with vimeo and youtube unless I disable the 2 existing bbcodes (vim) and (youtube). But that would then break existing posts.

I could do a search replace in the posts table but I'm not sure if that would actually update the posts. Hmmm

Ya.. I can see the dilemma,.. is there still a clone that can be experimented on, or just the orig backup?

________________
For the colors, if it can help or serve as inspiration or as picking source,
here's a before/after illustration of some of the previous suggestions for your consideration,
and a couple more for the links,

Image

Showing:

- the bright topic title,

unified hover colors of
- the post title
- the page numbers
- the Register + surrounding buttons ( making them like the View rencent topics button )
(for the icon, perhaps using the inversed bitmaps drom the dark theme?)

- slightly brightened Quote font colors

- and some possible plain Link colors with hovered and visited colors

Cheers!

great thanks that made that job easier :)

>> Ya.. I can see the dilemma,.. is there still a clone that can be experimented on, or just the orig backup?

I just copied the folder and the current db over to my site here. Will do some tests there. It looks like Notepad++ is the best option for mass replacing text in all posts.

Didn't find anything btw about the active topics centric version. It would be something like discourse. Even considered suggesting discourse instead of phpbb to owei but it looks like it requires a dedicated server.

Hi, no prob! :-B

And great that there is a sandbox (of what was the sandbox just a few days ago :) )

Also, the media portals now all seem to work at least on my end,
... and just by curiosity, can the default media portal size be resized?
it feels like they are still made for when the frame ratio was 3/4 (of high height) and on smaller screens.
If easily resizable, I would give them a good 1.5x resize.

For the colors,
everything seems great! Unified button colors and all ! ;;)

Except .. I think that you perhaps inversed the link colors?

They were initially determined by best contrast/clarity in their non-hovered states
(while still remaining distinct enough from regular text),
or meaning (for the light theme), a darker teal (on light gray) of non-hovered links,
and a perhaps less contrasty, but still clear "your mouse is over the link" brighter teal on hover.

But when logging-in, I saw that this reversal looks best with the dark theme,
because it means more contrast of the non-hovered brighter teal over dark gray.
( which could very well have inticed the reversal )

So if link colors of both light and dark themes refer to the same link colors,
I would agree that how it is now, is a good compromise for both.

But if both light and dark themes have their own link colors,
I would swap the unhovered<->hover colors for the light theme links.

Image

Then I won't bother you with colors :)

Cheers, and great to have you at the helm!

most of the media players are still using the older tags, they are just hidden in the post editor.

Didn't find a solution yet how to update them. I think the new one can be resized, will check.
Except .. I think that you perhaps inversed the link colors?
let me just fix that :) You can have different ones for each scheme.

Thanks for the good motivation btw ^^

new video size test (using new media tag, scales down)

twitter test

All old twitter, video, youtube, vim and vimeo tags have been replaced by the media tag (good old notepadd++ search/replace). If you find any more broken videos, please pm me!
