Alternative Solution for Mixamo Autorigger

Post by xsi_fanatic » 10 May 2016, 16:23

Hello Folks,

I remember reading on the forum from some that they'd like to see an auto rigger for Mixamo models for Softimage.
While this isn't exactly a script, it is nonetheless a starting point to something great. This is an alternative solution to having an official autorigger for Softimage and Mixamo.

Maybe one day someone with solid experience could create a script for this purpose.

Anyways, I hope you find these videos useful.

Cheers,
XF

Unfortunately the myRig plugin is no longer available for download however xsi_fanatic has kindly provided me with a copy. I have rehosted it on archive.org for everybody here. It should work with XSI 2015 SP2.

Also the MyRig Intro clips might be useful;

Also the original page seems to be still up;

MyRig seems pretty straight forward, I wonder what are the pros/cons vs. Gear (?)

The myRig page is still up but there is no download link. Also one of the biggest pros for myRig is the easy installation, just drag and drop. Cons are it only works with bipeds and doesn't have a mirroring animation function.

Watched your videos! Nice and long but I got it! Nice to know how to setup a Shadow rig. I assume to create a FBX shadow rig would be a similar process to export to a game engine?

So what I just did is called a Shadow Rig ? I didn't know that :P

I'm not familiar with Shadow Rigs to be honest. Maybe someone with advanced rigging skills might give a solid answer ?

hahaha... well I didin't think "mimic rig" or "copy rig" or "trace rig" seemd.. cool. So I said "Shadow Rig". Thought it funky - also.. I heard it somewhere? :))

I'll have to give it a try and see, but... I suppose it would be the same.. ? :-?
