A Fistful of Updates (copy/paste Mootzoid Newsletter #53)

Hey there,

The following addons for Softimage have been updated:

- emFlock2
- emNewton2
- emPolygonizer4
- emRPC4
- emTools

What's new in these updates?
Some minor bug fixes here are there, separate versions for Softimage 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and a few new goodies in emTools.
All updates are compatible with the respective previous version, so it is safe to update your addons even if you should be in the middle of a project.

What's coming next?
Next will be another update of emTopolizer2. It will contain a new set of tools to read, write and convert particle cache files coming from Softimage, Houdini, Maya and many other applications. These tools will hopefully make it easier to keep on using Softimage in conjunction with all the other apps out there.

Okay, cool, but what's next-next?

Hm.. yes and no.

For starters there are going to be some major upgrades of existing plugins:
the already mentioned emTopolizer2, then emPolygonizer5 and then emFluid5. Latter will be released sort of as an "open alpha", meaning that it will work well, but still lack a few things such as presets, documentation and the like.

When all that is done I will work on something new, i.e. a new plugin and not some boring update ;)

I think what we need next is a decent hair system. I dunno why people bother making the tools and never put effort into making tutorials for them. I know I could use that.
